Kids Happenings September 2017

Hello church family,

I am overly excited to share with you about all the new and exciting things that have been happening within our  children’s ministry!

At the end of July I, along with four other brave adults, went to kids camp with twenty-eight 3rd-6th grade children.  We had an amazing time! We had 2 children pray to receive Christ and several children express wanting to live a life that aligns with what Christ wants for them.  We had many deep discussions and children came away from camp with stronger friendships and an urge to have a stronger relationship with Christ. Praise the Lord!

Our new Kids Worship Experience format started on August 13th and was a success!  Children were welcomed into a different environment and structure of worship and enjoyed every bit of it.  We also have devoted weekly teachers for all age groups during 2nd and 3rd service.  This is a huge blessing to have consistent leaders pouring into and influencing our children’s Christian walk.  I am excited to see what God has in-store for our children through this new concept. Feel free to join in on this time during 9:30 or 11am service. We would love to have you!

The new Check-in and attendance tracker was implemented at the end of July.  Thank you Pastor Bryan Gotcher for all the hours and stress of getting it properly set up.  With this new check-in system we are able to track attendance more accurately and have a better security system in place to protect the children.  We will have two more check-in  stations strategically placed in the upper level of the church members and guest can check-in more conveniently on Sunday morning.

Happenings for the month of September…  AWANA registration has taken place and we will kick-off our Wednesday evening schedule starting September 6th from 6-7:30.  We will have a parent night on September 13th. This will be a time for parents to join me in the fellowship hall to discuss how you as a parent can help your child have the full AWANA experience and grow closer to God and learn His word.

Thank you for allowing me to love on your kiddos.

God Bless,

Kids Happenings August 2017

Hello Church Family,

Currently we are preparing for Kids Camp! This is always an exciting and exhausting week for our leaders and children. I know God has wonderful things planned for everyone that attends.  So many people have been investing into our children’s lives and camp is always a  fantastic opportunity for kids to experience God and show their love for Him.  Thank you to every parent for allowing your child to attend and for Amy Mehne, Leah Ice, Nick Scott and Jacob Townsend for volunteering to chaperone. You all are awesome!

In addition, our 5th graders held a bake sale a couple weeks ago and raised $352 to go towards clothing for an orphanage in India. I am in awe of our children when they work together with their talents to serve others.  Thank you to everyone that purchased the treats. I know this was very  encouraging for the children and good for your sweet tooth as well.

New kids Sunday morning format…  I am exciting to inform you of the changes that will be  happening within our children’s ministry starting August 13th.  Let me start by saying these changes were laid on my heart at least three years ago after attending a children’s ministry conference.  Along with the staff of our church and the leadership of our children’s ministry, I truly believe this concept would glorify God and discipline our children in ways that have yet to be experienced here at Oakhill Baptist Church.  With an     intentional, effective worship experience and consistent, devoted weekly teachers our children will benefit from this format in both the 9:30 and 11:00 worship hours like never before.

Your child will continue to have the opportunity to participate in their own Life Group where they will study the bible each Sunday and additionally will have a worship experience tailored to their age group.  These worship experiences will prioritize the same things that are prioritized in our adult worship times.  Children will join other similar age groups in our student room for 20-25 minutes each  morning and experience a kid friendly greeting time with their friends, high energy and slower intimate worship music, daily scripture readings, and weekly opportunities to give an offering towards a monthly mission’s emphasis.

I pray you are as excited as our church staff, teachers, and worship leaders are for this amazing opportunity for our children to have a more effective and intentional Sunday morning worship.  Gods hand has been moving for several years to finally give us this coming change to disciple our children in ways
like never before.  God Bless.
