February 2016 Pastor's Points

Dear Church Family,

Since we are in the middle of a political season, I thought it might be good to consider at least three qualities we should pray for to be demonstrated in the life of our next president.  I read an article sometime back about this topic and three qualities stuck in my mind.

First, I pray our new president will be marked by humility.  When you lead any group of people it is always necessary to remember that the position you have was first given to you by God.  The leader never accomplishes anything through his or her own power.  Also, the leader must remember that it is not about the leader.  It is about those that he or she leads.  An effective leader is a humble servant leader.  And a leader is never more like Jesus than when he walks in humility.

Second, our new president will need wisdom.  And I am not talking about the need to assemble the best and brightest advisers that human wisdom can offer.  Yes advisers are needed, but I pray for a president that will seek counsel from the pure truth of God's Word.  We need a president that is truly seeking wisdom from God and does not see themselves or advisers as the main source of wisdom to function in.

Third and finally, I pray that our new president will have courage.  A leader must display the courage of his convictions.  Courage to do what is right.  Courage to stand up for the weak and destitute.  Courage to protect the unborn.  Courage to speak truth to power.  Courage to say no when it is necessary.  Courage to say yes to those things that are right even when it is politically dangerous. And yes courage to stand to protect our country from all enemies domestic and foreign.  We need a president marked by humility, wisdom, and courage.  Lets make it a matter of prayer.

I love you and I love being your pastor.

Dear Church Family,

I could not be more excited about the beginning of a brand new year!!  I know 2016 will hold some heartache and challenges along the way, but I also know that new and exciting things are right around the corner as well!

  • New Prayer Emphasis

Please sign up for one of our host homes where we will be getting together to start 2016 off with a special emphasis of fellowship and prayer.  We will meet for four Sunday
evenings in January (10th, 17th, 24th, and 31st).  If you have kids or students you can drop them off at church at 5:15PM then get to your host home by 5:30PM.  You can then pick your kids back up at 7:00PM at the church.  This is super important so please be a part of it.

  • New Pastors @ Oakhill

Soon we will have our new Worship Pastor in place and I could not be more excited!  Our search has been ongoing and extensive and should be coming to a conclusion very soon.  Please be praying for this search process and the man that God has for us as our new worship pastor!

Also, be in prayer for the new Pastor position that was approved in our 2016 church
budget.  This new position is going to allow us to focus on discipleship like never before.   As a part of this emphasis you will be seeing and hearing more about the development of our own biblical counseling ministry as well.  Pray for this search process as well and the one that God is leading to our church to help us accomplish what God has for us.

  • New Possibilities of Ministry and Missions

Our church has so many ministry opportunities for you to be a part of in 2016.  Please be praying and asking God to show you where He would have you serve in the life of our church family.  If you have questions about how to get plugged into ministry please see one of your church staff!  They would love to help you find your place in ministry.

We also have many mission opportunities coming up as well.  You can be on mission right here in Evansville, go to Detroit, or even to India or China.  We have many opportunities to go all around the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ!  All you have to do is say “YES” and watch what God will do!  If you have any questions about mission’s opportunities please see Pastor
Bryan or call the church office and we will get you hooked up with one of our mission partners.

  • New Opportunities to Bring Glory to God

I believe by faith that God is going to place before us new opportunities to bring glory to Him.  Some of these ministry opportunities will help us reach out to the lost and hurting who desperately need to hear the Gospel.  I believe He is also going to open the door for us to continue to reach out to families who need to hear and live out the Gospel in their homes.   I also believe that God is going to take some through deep waters of sickness, challenge, and even loss for the purpose of shaping us more into His image, but if we will walk well through even our challenges we can and will bring glory to our great God.  I do not know exactly what 2016 holds for us, but I do know the one who holds our future in His hands.  I am excited for God to leads us and show us what it is that He has for us!!!
